Carolyn K. (Breese) Shepherd, 80, of Galesburg, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, November 29, 2020, in Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born March 1, 1940, in Canton, the daughter of Ted and Mara Lee (Jarnigan) Breese.  She married John A. “Jack” Shepherd on June 30, 1962, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death September 8, 2001.

She is survived by one daughter, Kim Shepherd of Galesburg; two sisters, Dixie (Breese) Davis and Penny Breese, both of Canton; one brother, David Breese of Canton; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack and Kenny Breese.

Carolyn was a homemaker, going back to college in 1979 to earn her degree in Child Care.  She served as assistant director at Spires Child Care for 29 years.  Being around children and family brought her the most joy.  Carolyn was Girl Scout leader for many years, and received awards doing so.

Carolyn has many hobbies including, sewing, crocheting, making crafts, and sitting down with a good mystery book.  She will be greatly missed.

Private family graveside service will be Thursday, December 3, 2020, in Rio Baptist Cemetery.  Rev. Dr. Pamela Marolla will officiate.  There will be no visitation.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is honored to serve the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
