Chris “Cid” Jones

Chris “Cid” Jones finished his last round and headed for the 19th hole on October 31, 2020.

Cid was born to Harold and Dorothy (Short) Jones on August 30, 1953 in Ottumwa, IA.  He is survived by his wife Jill; his sons, Kyle of Ankeny, IA and Drew (Amanda) Jones of Grand Forks, ND; his daughter, Dawn Walters of Galesburg; and four grandchildren.  Additionally he is survived by his sister, Cindy (Dave) Frotz of Libertyville, IA; and his brothers, Terry (Judy) of Ottumwa, IA, Greg (Cindy) of Raynham, MA, Evan of Oakland, IA, and Mark of Ankeny, IA.

Cid worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 43 years.  Like most railroaders he continued to complain about the railroad well into retirement.

Whether watching or playing Cid’s passion was golf.  He thrived on the thrill of competition.  If he wasn’t on your team he was the guy everyone wanted to beat.  A victory on the course could lead to weeks or even years of tall tales and trash talk.  You could measure Cid’s fondness for you by the amount of grief he gave you.  The friends he cherished most were the ones that could dish it right back.

Per Cid’s request, there will be no services.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to current COVID-19 restrictions.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made in Cid’s memory to the American Cancer Society.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
