F. Geneva “Jenny” Carnes

F. Geneva “Jenny” Carnes, age 91 of Burlington, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.  She was born March 5, 1929 in Stronghurst, Illinois, the daughter of William J. and Nellie Mae Perry Long.  On October 12, 1949, she married William R. “Bill” Carnes in Stronghurst.  He preceded her in death on May 5, 2004.

Jenny was a ward clerk for Burlington Medical Center for over 31 years.  She lived most of her life in the Stronghurst area, moving to Burlington in 2012.  She was a member of the Stronghurst Christian Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Carnes of Burlington, IA, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, eight brothers and four sisters.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday December 1, 2020 in the Stronghurst Cemetery with Steve Minkler officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials have been established for the Great River Hospice House and Stronghurst Ambulance Service.  Please visit Jenny’s obituary at banksandbeals.com.
