Franklin L. Clewell, age 90, of East Galesburg, Illinois died at 7:36 A.M. on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born on May 15, 1930 in Peoria, Illinois the son of Jess and Magdalina (Elias) Clewell. He attended the East Galesburg grade school and the Knoxville High School. He married Grace L. Lufkin on July 29, 1950 in Galesburg, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 30, 1999.

Surviving is his son, Steven (Hildy) Clewell of rural Knoxville, Illinois; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Rickey L. Clewell and two brothers, Albert and Jess Clewell.

He began working for the former East Galesburg Purington Bick Yard and the Lucky Boy Bakery. He then, at the former Rowe Manufacturing in Galesburg, Illinois for twenty-one years and the former Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg, Illinois for sixteen years as a security guard. He was a member of the former East Galesburg Lions Club, where he was an active member holding all the offices. Member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association for ten years. He lived in East Galesburg all of his life, he had many friends, loved to visit and eat at the area restaurants.

Private graveside services will be held at East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the East Galesburg Volunteer Fire Department in East Galesburg, Illinois. On-line condolences and/or expressions of sympathy may be made through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
