The Knox County Health Department in conjunction with the State of Illinois is holding a Free COVID-19 Testing this weekend, November 28th – 29th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Knox County Fair Ground, drive-thru or walk up. It is open to all Illinois residents, regardless of symptoms. Please bring your identification. At the drive-thru testing, staff will be practicing masking and social distancing throughout the event, and all individuals are being asked to wear face coverings as well.

Public Information Officer, Erin Olson states, “This virus continues to put many at extreme risk of sever health impacts, significant financial hardship, or both. Please keep your loved ones, friends, neighbors, colleagues, acquaintances, and those you have not yet met as your top priorities. That means wearing a face covering, limiting your trips to only necessary outings, socially distancing, washing your hands frequently and supporting your local businesses by shopping local, using curbside or takeout and online options. We will continue working together to find safe ways to move all areas of our lives safely and responsibly past this virus. We are All in this together and it will take our collective efforts. The holidays are a time for giving and putting others first. The Knox County community has been doing just this and will rally again in a time of even greater need.”

Positive cases have been identified geographically throughout Knox County; with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reporting 65.7% of all Knox County cases residing in Galesburg, 9.2% in Knoxville, 6.3%  in Abingdon, 2.5% in Dahinda, 1.8%  in Oneida, 1.7% in Wataga, 1.7% in Yates City, 1.3% in East Galesburg, 1.3% in Gilson, 0.9% in Altona, 0.9% in Williamsfield, 0.9% in Maquon, 0.8% in Rio, 0.5% in St. Augustine,  0.4% in Victoria, 0.4% in Henderson, and 4.1%  in the remaining areas of the County.  According to IDPH, data shown is >5 cases per zip code which is consistent with Collection, Disclosure, and Confidentiality of Health Statistics (77 Ill.
