Lucile Hanna, 97, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 1:34 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Courtyard Estates of Monmouth, Monmouth, IL. 

Lucile Sallee was born July 22, 1923 to parents Fay and Effie (Hoteling) Sallee.  Lucile grew up east of Gerlaw, IL, attending Science Hall grade school, Galesburg High School, and Western Illinois University.  She married Harold Hanna on May 2, 1948 and raised son, Mark. 

Lucile taught fifth grade for 23 years at Garfield Elementary in Monmouth.  Prior to that she taught multi-grades rooms at Gerlaw and Rio, and a one-room school at Tylerville.  She was a veteran Sunday School teacher at Alexis Presbyterian Church and a member of Coldbrook Christian Church.

Lucile always sought to promote, encourage, and develop the best in kids she taught in school and when she taught Sunday School.  She loved collecting antiques, and socializing with many close friends and relatives along with husband Harold. 

She is survived by her son Mark (Michele), nephews Mike (Barb) and Dan (Kathy) Sallee and Howard Johnston, niece Crystal Johnston, and great nieces Danielle Sallee, Annie (Ryan) Monson, Andrea (Andrew) Koester, and great nephew Bob Sallee.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harold, parents, Fay and Effie Sallee, brother Kenneth Sallee, sisters-in-law Clara Sallee and Alice Johnston, and brother-in-law, Robert Johnston. 

A private family graveside service will be in Gerlaw Cemetery.  A celebration of life will be at a later date.  Memorials may be given to the Jamieson Community Center, Monmouth.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
