Mark W. “Pete” Taylor, age 70, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at
11:30 am on Saturday November 21, 2020 in Monmouth, Illinois. Pete was
born on December 29, 1949 in Monmouth and is the son of Phyllis Mae
Johnson. Mark was raised in Kirkwood where he attended local schools and
attended Monmouth High School. After his schooling Mark served his
country in the Army, where he was a Staff Sargent, serving from 1967 to
1977. Mark was previously married to Connie Altis and later was married
to Susan Taylor. Mark worked his entire career in construction doing
siding and roofing. He was a true handyman. Mark loved playing dominoes
and throwing horseshoes. Mark loved owning and collecting John Wayne
memorabilia. He was most patriotic and loved his country. He most loved
his family. Surviving him are four daughters, Amy Hume and Scott, Nicole
Taylor, Amanda Gregory all of Monmouth, Illinois and Melissa Kerney and
William of Smiths Grove, Kentucky. There are two sons, Daniel Taylor of
Monmouth, and Mark Taylor and Megan of Ft. Hood, Texas. There are
numerous grandchildren also surviving. His sister, Jane Penney is also
surviving in Galesburg, Illinois. He is preceded in his death by his
mother, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
Interment and Military Funeral Honors will be presented on Wednesday November 25, 2020 at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth at 11:00 am. Friends may call at Turnbull Funeral all day on Tuesday and may pay their respects to Mark or leave a memorial donation. Recommendations of the Center for Disease Control of the Covid 19 virus are highly recommended. A memorial fund for the Gary Vinese Foundation has been established by his family.
