Marla J. Woertz, age 78, of Altona, Illinois died at 6:20 P.M. on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
She was born on September 29, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois the daughter of Everett H. and Hazle E. (King) Rosenow. October 2, 1931 in Altona, Illinois. She attended and graduated from Elmira Grade school and High School in Toulon, Illinois. She married Larry R. Woertz on January 12, 1961 in Eureka, Illinois, they were married 48 years before he preceded her in death on May 29, 2009.
Marla worked and retired after 27 years from the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville. She was a devoted housewife and mother of six children: Debbie (Wayne) Dowell of Abingdon, Illinois, Daryl Woertz of Kewanee, Illinois, Darla (Dennis) Miller of Tennessee, David Woertz of Altona, Illinois, Dawn Olson of Kewanee, Illinois, and Daniel Woertz of Galva, Illinois; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; a half-sister Pat, one brother, Arco. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, husband, and one sister Winona Tallyn and one brother, Benjamin, and one great grandson.
She bowled for several years at Eastgate Lanes in Galva, Illinois in the mixed leagues. She loved to collect glassware and antiques; loved nature, flowers, birds, cooling and baking. She loved her children, grandchildren and her dogs.
