William “Bill” Stewart Patterson

William “Bill” Stewart Patterson, 83, of Gerlaw, IL, passed away at 6:15 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. 

He was born on December 16, 1936 in rural Mercer County, IL, the son of John S. and Minnie M. (Dahl) Patterson and was the last of 11 children. 

Bill attended small country schools and graduated from Alexis High School in 1955.  He entered the US Air Force in July of 1955 and served until July of 1959.  Bill worked for over 30 years as a line supervisor at Gates Rubber Company in Galesburg, IL until his retirement.  After retirement, Bill loved spending every day on the farm. 

He married Phyllis Greeling and they had four children, Lee Ann (Jim) Johnson of Galesburg, IL, Denise (Jon) Hubbert of Altoona, IA, D.W. (Bill) Patterson of Galesburg, IL, and Scott Patterson of Alexis, IL.  He later married Barbara Allert.  He was a member of the Alexis Presbyterian Church. 

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Patterson of Gerlaw, IL; his children; step children, Mark Allert of Galesburg, IL, Jeanne Allert of Baltimore, MD, Steven Allert of Gerlaw, IL; grandchildren, Ryan (Emily) Hubbert of Pleasant Hills, IA, Amy Hubbert of Altoona, IA, Mackenzie (Jeremy) Laminack of South Korea, Avery Allert of Marquette, MI, Zoe Allert of Ames, IA, Erin Simia of Dallas, TX; several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Richard, and Donald Patterson, John Harold; sisters, Maribelle Heasly, Irene Brothers, Doris Johnson, Lois Armstrong, Bessie Patterson, and Joanne Kohler. 

Cremation rites have been accorded.  Graveside services in North Henderson Cemetery with Pastor Brian Beert will be at a later date.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
