The Western Illinois women’s basketball team announced its 2020-21 schedule Wednesday (Nov. 4), in addition to The Summit League releasing the format for league games.

Structure for Summit League games will consist of teams playing the same opponent twice at the same location on back-to-back days. League play will begin Jan. 3 and conclude Feb. 28, with each school receiving a bye week.

WIU tips-off the campaign at Bellarmine on Nov. 29, who are entering their first season at the Division I level and the newest members of the ASUN Conference. Non-League play continues with the third annual Compass Challenge from Dec. 4-5, which features all four cardinal direction schools — Eastern Illinois, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, and Western Illinois — in Charleston, Ill.

Other road games are set for Indiana State (Dec. 7), Southeast Missouri (Dec. 11), and Big Ten foe Iowa (Dec. 22). The first home game inside Western Hall will welcome in-state rival Illinois State on Dec. 13.

Summit League play begins in Macomb with the host of North Dakota State on Jan. 3, followed by a trip to South Dakota State (Jan. 8-9) and then back-to-back home weekends affairs against Kansas City (Jan.15-16) and South Dakota (Jan. 23-24).
