Galesburg pedestrian killed in Fatal Traffic Crash

A 62-year-old man from Galesburg was killed after he was struck by a vehicle late Friday night. According to the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred around 11:30pm on Farnham Street at South Street in Galesburg. A preliminary investigation indicates a car driven by a 17-year-old male of Galesburg was traveling southbound on South Farnham Street near the intersection with South Street. The vehicle ran over a pedestrian lying in the street. The pedestrian, 62-year-old Eric B. Ericson of Galesburg was pronounced deceased on scene by the Knox County Coroner. The driver of the car and his 18-year-old female of Galesburg were uninjured. The ISP reports an investigation is pending.
