- How has your experience coaching/ job changed over time?
I actually started my coaching career coaching middle school and high school student-athletes for many years in a variety of sports–basketball, volleyball, track, and cross country! Prior to Knox, I coached cross country at a Community College. While the age of the student-athlete has changed, my commitment and passion for coaching has only continued to grow. - If you could coach any sport (that you do not already coach) what would it be? (does not have to be a sport at Knox)
I would love to coach basketball! It was my first love before I discovered running and still enjoy getting in some shots when I can. - What advice would you give your younger self knowing where you are today?
Life’s too short to not do what you love. - What do you enjoy most about Division 3?
Division III is such a true form of sport. Student-athletes are competing because of their love and passion for the sport. - What is one tip you would give an incoming FY?
Be involved, try something new, and don’t be afraid to fail. While no one likes to fail, failing allows for learning and the opportunity to grow and improve. - What do you enjoy doing on your off days?
On my off days, I love spending time with my family exploring our new hometown together. - Why did you get into athletics?
I earned a degree in Physical Education because I am passionate about fitness and lifelong health. That passion shifted strongly into coaching and I am thrilled that it has led me to Knox! I love being a part of the personal growth of student-athletes both on and off the track, as well. Coaching isn’t just about getting faster, stronger, and winning–it’s the love for the game, learning to be a leader and a team player, and learning to push yourself to uncomfortable limits for the betterment of the team.
