Patsy Lou (Beasley) Brush died Monday, November 30, 2020 at 1:35 a.m. at the Knox County Nursing Home from COVID-19 complications.

She was born March 10, 1934 in Canton, Illinois to Neil F. and Mary (Hall) Beasley.  Patsy graduated from Canton Sr. High School in 1952. She married Delbert Brush in June, 1952 and they later divorced.

Patsy was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church, Canton, where she was a Sunday School teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School and Deacon for many years, and was a current member of Galesburg First Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Galesburg Pilot Club.

Patsy’s hobbies included needlework, gardening and putting together jigsaw puzzles and framing them. She was an avid Bulls/Michael Jordan fan.

In Canton, Patsy worked for several years at Knepp’s Clothing Store and as a chair-side dental assistant. After moving to Galesburg, she worked for Anderson Florist, K-Mart, and several retail stores in the Sandburg Mall. Always genuinely friendly, and a bit of a tease, many customers of the North Henderson Street Hy-Vee still refer to her as the “nice lady” at the cash register in the kitchen area. She retired from Hy-Vee at age 80. Never wanting to drive a car, she was also the nice lady who cheerfully walked all over town in all kinds of weather.

Patsy’s greatest joy was being with family and extended family. She will long be remembered for her homemade noodles and her fierce competitiveness at games (especially croquet, badminton and Spoons) during family gatherings.

Survivors include her daughter, Colleen (Ron) Culbertson; son, Michael Brush; grandchildren, Will Culbertson, Randy (Elizabeth) Culbertson; and great-grandchildren, Sierra, Hailey, Walker and Austin.

She was pre-deceased by her parents; two brothers, Neil Beasley and Donald Beasley; daughter, Brenda Brush; great-grandson, Randy Culbertson, Jr.; and beloved cat, Bruno.

Cremation has been accorded. A private burial will be held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Canton at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Gordon Behrents Senior Center, 2015 Windish Drive, or Galesburg First Presbyterian Church, 101 North Prairie Street.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is honored to serve the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
