Pauline May Overstreet, age 96, of Raritan, Illinois passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Generations of Peoria in Peoria, Illinois. She was born February 29, 1924 near Raritan, the daughter of Raymond and Icel Rezner Gerahart. On July 19, 1944, she married F.E. “Bun” Overstreet in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1991.
Mrs Overstreet was a graduate of Media-Wever High School in Media, IL. She was a bus driver and assisted her husband in the operation of the Overstreet Bus Service for many years. She also worked at the Raritan State Bank, Raritan Grocery Store, and was secretary at the grade school for several years. She enjoyed playing the piano and traveling with her husband.
She was a former member of the Raritan Firemen Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Raritan Baptist Church, the Co-Missus Group and the Women’s Society of the Church. She was also a member of the Media-Weverettes, a social group consisting of women who graduated from Media-Wever High School near the same time.
Survivors include one son; Dennis (Kathy) Overstreet of Weslaco, TX, two daughters; Andrea (David) Barber and DeAnn (Earl) Waller, both of Raritan, ten grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandchild, and one brother; Wayne Gearhart.
Friends may call as they desire on Thursday from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2020 in the Raritan Cemetery. Due to the pandemic, CDC restrictions and recommendations will be followed. Memorials have been established for Raritan Baptist Church, Raritan Volunteer Fire Department, and the Stronghurst-Raritan Ambulance Service.
