Roselee “Rosie” Davis Thompson, 79, of Galesburg, died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020, in the Monmouth Nursing Home.
She was born June 11, 1941, in Macomb, the daughter of Edgar and Helen (Overhulser) Sheets. She married Donald R. Davis on November 4, 1958, in Wayland, Missouri. He preceded her in death December 30, 1999. She later married Luther Thompson in June 2007 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death March 9, 2018.
She is survived by two sons, James (Patty) Davis of Galesburg, Steve Davis of Kewanee; two daughters, Brenda (Chuck) Burbach of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Hope (John) Reynolds of Rio; a son-in-law, Jeff Orrender of Schaumburg; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Wanda (John) Ryner of Monmouth; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Orrender; and a brother, Claude Sheets.
Rosie worked in retail for most of her working career. She had worked at Woolsey Fabrics, Wilkinson’s, JC Penney, and Joe the Tailor. She had lived in Cameron for many years before moving into Galesburg. Rosie was an active member of Harmony Baptist Church in Galesburg. She also belonged to the Red Hat Ladies and was a long-time volunteer at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Her favorite things in life were her family and friends.
Cremation will be accorded. Private family graveside service will be Saturday, January 2, 2021 in East Linwood Cemetery. Pastor Chris Nissley will officiate. There will be no visitation.
