No change was made to the United School District’s tax levy that was presented last month to the board. Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt shares they are expecting an increase on the EAV:

“We are expecting a pretty healthy increase in our EAV again this year. If our guess on our EAV is correct, we should see no change in our rate. Our taxpayers should see no rate change. If there is an increase on their school taxes, it is because their assessment went up, not because we raised the rate. Now, is the EAV doesn’t jump like we think it will, then there will be a small increase in the rate. On top of that, the board committed $250,000 toward our bond payment that will come out of our facilities sales tax. We have historically done that since we issued bonds back in 2010. That is not new. Our board looks at it and says that if they can knock eleven or twelve cents off the tax rate for our taxpayers by doing that, they are glad to do it.”
