Barbara Jean Sutton, 85, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 10:49 pm, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at her home.

Jean was born August 18, 1935 in Norborne, MO the daughter of James and Alice  (Waters) Workman.  She was raised and educated in Norborne, MO and Omaha, NE.

Jean married William Sutton in Omaha, NE on January 30, 1970 and he survives.

She was a cook at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg for several years before retiring.  She enjoyed quilting and coloring in books.

Survivors include her husband, William of Monmouth, Il; 4 children, Michael Grell of Shell Rock, IA; Deby (Wes) Walters of Monmouth, IL, Jeffrey Grell of Monmouth, IL and William (Lyndsay) Sutton, Jr of Overland Park, KS; 1 step son, Kent (Marcia) Sutton of Plattsmouth, NE; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, William Workman of Phoenix, AZ and Danny Workman of Omaha, NE; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Gordon Grell; one daughter, Annette Yardley and one sister, Pauline Catherine Rieke.

Cremation has been accorded.  Cremation has been accorded.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions the family has elected to have open calling hours on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 9:00-5:00 pm. A private family interment will take place in Louisville, NE.  Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Hickory Grove Lake Warren Association and sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
