Many different factors today are leading to anxiety and triggering people in experiencing many physical and mental symptoms, including faster heart beats, flight syndrome, sweaty palms, panicky feelings, or racing thoughts. VP of Behavior Health Services at Bridgeway Stacy Brown informs each individual’s outlets are different, but finding a way to relax yourself is important:
“Everybody’s outlet is very different. If you are having some of those physical symptoms or feelings, ways that you can find to relax yourself; breathing exercises, are you able to step away from what you are experiencing, looking at, seeing, and just kind of close your eyes. Those five deep breathes, sometimes that is the most significant thing. Being able to tune things out. Sometimes it takes a little bit more for people. Do they need to physically remove themselves from the situation, especially if this is the first time that is happening for you. Sometimes people do need to get actual medical help. It really depends on the person, but it those self-calming types of things. There are a lot of great apps out there now, calming apps, but your really have to find what works for you.”
