She was born February 21, 1942, in Freeport, the daughter of Vernon and Joyce (Pierce) Kuhse.  She grew up in Stockton where her dad was the police chief and her grandparents farmed.

She is survived by her children, Susan (Ty) Thompson of Galesburg and Marshal Lee Pointer (Melanie) of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Jacob Pointer, of Denver, Colorado, Anna Pointer of Austin, Zeph (Blair) Thompson of Galesburg, Sam Thompson of Galesburg, and Caleb (Ashley Petersen) Thompson of Oregon; two step-grandchildren, Jessica and Payton Ringstaff of Austin, two great grandchildren, Lilah and Sebastian Thompson; a sister, Rosemary Bieck of Rockford and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Alan Kuhse in 1969; and her daughter, Amanda Pointer in 1974.

Family and friends were so important to Carolina, she loved and was loved by everyone who knew her.  Her kindness and bright spirit will be greatly missed by all of us.

Carolina was an amazingly talented artist and seamstress.  She worked magic with her hands, sewing anything from alterations to bridal gowns.  Carolina specialized in working with ceramics and stained glass. In the 1970s she had ceramic shops and taught classes. When she took a class in stained glass, she discovered a true passion culminating in her shop, Creations by Carolina.  She owned the shop for 10 years before retiring, where she not only created beautiful pieces but also taught classes that inspired so many students.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she sewed many of the sanctuary items.  Carolina also loved gardening, flowers, baking, watching the birds at the feeder, reading, (her book club!) and her most recent hobby, crocheting.

Cremation will be accorded.  Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a celebration of life service will be announced at a time this summer when folks can gather.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Galesburg Civic Art Center.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is honored to serve the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
