Chris B. Brooks, age 72, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 3:30 PM
on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in
Monmouth. He was born December 2, 1948 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Charles B. and Daisy (Williams) Brooks. Chris attended school in
Monmouth and was a graduate of Monmouth High School. He later attended Monmouth College and attended graduate school in Wisconsin. On June 11, 2011, he married Cynthia Klingler in Monmouth, Illinois and she is
surviving. Chris worked several jobs, lastly before retiring, as a
residential specialist for Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth. Chris
had a great love of music, playing the drums for many of his years, from
the 1st Chair at Monmouth High School, under the direction of Band
Director Lester Munneke, to the local Brooks Brothers Band. Chris also
enjoyed card games and watching his favorite programs on television.
Chris is survived by his wife Cindy of Monmouth, Illinois, one sister,
Ada Groff of Denver, Colorado, one brother, Glenn Brooks of Lancaster,
California, five brothers-in-law, Vic (Carol) Murdy of Squires,
Missouri, Oscar (Debra) Klingler of Ft. Worth, Texas, John (Jenny)
Klingler of Springfield, Missouri, Disty (Lisa) Klingler of Battlefield,
Missouri, and Cody Klingler of Battlefield, Missouri, one sister-in-law,
Sharon Klingler of Dora, Missouri, and his mother-in-law, Clydean
Strader or Dora, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents, two
sisters, and three brothers.
Cremation is being accorded. A private family memorial service will be
held at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. The memorial
service will be live-streamed on the Turnbull Funeral Home website. In
