Henderson County Residents 65 and Older Need to Register for COVID Vaccine

Share

Angela Myers, Henderson County Health Department Administrator, has announced that all Henderson County residents will need to present their driver’s license cards or Illinois-approved identification cards at the registration site the day that they are to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations.   Also, people who receive Medicare are being asked to bring their cards with them when they are to receive their vaccinations.   Both cards will be copied and stored with each person’s vaccination file.  Those files will be saved for three years and then destroyed.

It seems that rumors circulate.  If you hear something that you would like to verify, please contact the Henderson County Health Department at 309-627-2812.   Staff members will answer your questions or will work to find the answers.  For example, an individual telephoned to inquire about a person who was not a  Henderson County resident who said that he had received a vaccination at the Henderson County Health Department.  Angela Myers was assisted by Judy Roessler, Mass Vaccination Coordinator,  to review all of the records of people who had been vaccinated.  There was no record of that person having been vaccinated or having registered to receive the vaccine.

Henderson County residents may call the Henderson County Health Department at 309-627-2812 to leave their names and contact information so that they can be notified when vaccine is available.  There currently is a list of more than 500 names of people who want a vaccination.  There is a list for people who are over the age of 65 and a list of people under the age of 65.  People are notified by telephone when their name appears on the list and there is vaccine available.  Residents over the age of 65 will be notified first.

The amount of vaccine that is sent to Henderson County per weekly shipment is 100 doses.  Therefore, the health department is limited in administering vaccines.  No shipments to Henderson County have been received for 3 weeks.  The reason that residents are asked to register by phone is so that people can be notified when vaccine is available so that they do not waste their time waiting in line only to find that several hours later there is no vaccine.

Each county health department has received authority to conduct its mass vaccination plan according to the needs of each county with the exception of the different phases of criteria for critical workers being vaccinated first throughout the state.  You can keep up to date by following HCHD on:
