Jamieson Community Center Receives Generous Donation

The Jamieson Community Center continues to help fight food insecurity in Warren and Henderson County. Currently 250 families per month rely on the food pantry and 150 seniors rely on the Senior Nutrition Program. Jamieson Community Center Executive Director Nancy Mowen shares a heartwarming story of a generous donation of $3,600 from a community member.

“About a little over a week ago, a man called in the morning and asked if we were accepting donations for the food pantry and I said ‘Not in kind at this time. I cannot store that safely and quarantine it before we bring it in the building, but we are accepting monetary donations.’ He said he had a check to drop off. He came and I went outside and talked to him for a little bit and he gave me and envelope. I talked to him a little bit more and thanked him for thanking about his community. I went in and gave the check to Jenna, our office manager, she opened it and gasped. The check was for $3,600. He had given us all the stimulus money that he and his wife received in 2020.”
