Joann Elizabeth (Westerfield) Lundeen died at her home at Seminary Estates on Sunday January 17, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was 95.

Joann was born in Galesburg, IL on March 22, 1925 to the late Roy Alexander Westerfield and G. Ione (Coates) Westerfield.

She married Jack M. Lundeen in Galesburg, IL on May 3, 1948. He survives.

Joann attended schools in Galesburg, IL and Raleigh, NC. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1943, and she graduated from Knox College and the Galesburg Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She graduated with advanced graduate degrees in health care and Nursing from Western Illinois University and Governor’s State University.

Joann taught in the Cottage School of Nursing until it closed. She then taught nursing at Carl Sandburg College for 20 years. Joann retired from teaching at Carl Sandburg College in 1992. During her tenure there, she taught in both the Practical Nursing and Associate Degree Nursing programs. She also served as Coordinator of the Associate Degree Nursing Program and Chair of the Allied Health Division.

Two sisters preceded her in death, Marjorie (Westerfield) Lundeen and Peggy (Westerfield) Siler, and one brother Roy L. Westerfield.

Survivors include two daughters, Jan (Jon Wagner) Lundeen of Rio, IL and Elizabeth “Beth” (Stuart) Alderson of Galesburg, IL, a sister-in law Phyllis (Richard) Strader of Wataga, IL, many nieces and nephews, and a special friend Martha Lindsey.

Grandchildren are Nicholas Wagner, Joanna “Jodi” Wagner and Amanda Patton Wagner, all in Chicago, IL, and Erin (Michael Crumm) Alderson of Fair Oaks, CA.

Great-grandchildren include Henry Wagner, Finney Wagner, and Michael “Mack” Crumm, III.

Watson-Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Joann requested cremation be accorded. There will be no services or visitation.  Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission, Trinity Lutheran Church of Galesburg, the Carl Sandburg College of Nursing, Knox College, or a charitable organization of the donor’s choice.   Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
