John R. Rehn, 53, of Galesburg, died of a heart attack at 4:41 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021, in the Emergency Room at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

John was born June 20, 1967, in Geneseo, the son of J. Wayne and F. Jean (Farnham) Rehn.  John is survived by his wife, Jeralyn; two daughters, Jensen who is attending her parents’ Alma Mater, University of Notre Dame Law School, and Tegan of Galesburg, who will attend her father’s Alma Mater, University of Illinois; one son, John of Galesburg; his mother, Jean of Galesburg; and one sister, Lisa (David) Hamman of Naperville.  John is also survived by one niece, Savannah Hamman of Naperville; one nephew, Jack Hamman of Ft. Hood, TX; and his mother-in-law, Donna Johnson of Galesburg.  John was preceded in death by his father and a nephew Henry.

John received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois.  He received his law degree from the University of Notre Dame.  While attending law school he met his future wife, Jeralyn Sue Johnson.  They were married on August 3, 1996, in Willoughby, OH.  John owned and operated Rehn Law in Galesburg.  As an attorney, John always enjoyed helping his clients. 

John’s greatest love was his family!  He loved attending all their school sports and events.  The family took many epic road and train trips. They travelled to all 48 Continental States while visiting National Parks and historical sites.  He had a zest for life and enjoyed cheering on the Fighting Illini.  He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.  John enjoyed spending time reading about history, learning the teachings of the Bible, and walking his dog, Molly.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2021, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, social distancing, face masks, and limited occupancy will be enforced.  Private family funeral services will be held.  Those wishing to attend the service virtually may view the service 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at https://www.facebook.com/WatsonThomasFH.  Cremation will be accorded following services.  Memorials may be made in John’s memory to the Knox County Humane Society or to the Fish Food Pantry or local charity of donor’s choice.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
