Knox County Reports 266 New Covid-19 Cases

The Knox County Unified Command is announcing 266 new cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), between Tuesday, December 29, 2020 through Monday, January 4, 2021, bringing the total positive cases to 4,273. The new positive cases include 111 females and 155 males. Due to federal privacy restriction, release of any additional information is prohibited. In every effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission, local public health officials are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in direct contact with these individuals.

Positive cases have been identified geographically throughout Knox County; with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reporting 64.0% of all Knox County cases residing in Galesburg, 8.7% in Knoxville, 6.4% in Abingdon, 2.0% in Yates City, 1.9% in Wataga, 1.8%  in Oneida, 1.8% in Dahinda, 1.4% in East Galesburg, 1.4% in Williamsfield, 1.3% in Gilson, 1.1% in Maquon, 1.0% in Altona, 0.9% in Rio, 0.6% in Victoria, 0.6% in Henderson, 0.4% in St. Augustine, and 4.7%  in the remaining areas of the County.  According to IDPH, data shown is >5 cases per zip code which is consistent with Collection, Disclosure, and Confidentiality of Health Statistics (77 Ill. Adm. Code 1005). It should be assumed that COVID-19 exposure can occur in every county in IL. Zip code is zip code of residence, which may not be the location of exposure.

The Knox County Health Department in conjunction with the State of Illinois is holding a Free COVID-19 Testing this Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Knox County Fairgrounds, 1392 Knox Highway 9 Galesburg, IL drive-thru or walk up. It is open to all Illinois residents, regardless of symptoms. Please bring your identification. At the drive-thru testing, staff will be practicing masking and social distancing throughout the event, and all individuals are being asked to wear face coverings as well.

Everyone should be aware that COVID-19 testing is available at the Knox Community Health Center, regardless of symptoms or other criteria, please call the Knox Community Health Center at 309-344-2225 to schedule an appointment. Call early as same day appointments are often available.
