Mr. Larry L. Graham, 80, of Galesburg, Illinois died 10:05 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois.
He was born May 4, 1940 in Lafayette, Indiana to Elmore and Jeanette (Hilligoss) Graham. He married Ruth Ann Stevens, August 7, 1965 in Galesburg.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Ruth Ann of Galesburg, a sister-in-law, Mary E. Stevens of Galesburg and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Keith E. Graham.
Larry graduated from Galesburg Senior High School in 1958. He attended Bradley University, Peoria and then graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois in 1962 with a bachelor degree in Journalism. While in high school, Larry covered sports for the Register Mail. He continued to cover sports while attending both universities. He served in the Army Reserve for many years and was put on active duty during the Cuban Crisis. Larry was a display advertising salesman for the Register Mail in Galesburg for 44 years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and former member of Trinity Lutheran Church. His interest in President Lincoln continued for many years as he collected old and new books about Lincoln. He enjoyed following the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Private graveside service was Thursday, January 7, 2021 at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Rev. Dr. Pamela Marolla will officiate. There will be no visitation. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or Galesburg Public Library Foundation.
