Local Boy and Girls Travel Basketball Teams Play Week Two at TBK Bank Sports Complex

Play continued in the United Hoops League at the TBK Bank Sports Complex on Friday night. A team of junior and senior boys from Monmouth-Roseville went (0-2) in week two, losing to a team from Ridgewood 50-23 in game one and 49-44 to Delastoneville-Christian in the nightcap. Ben Anderson led the way in scoring for Monmouth-Roseville in the first game with nine points. Jack Thompson had 20 of the team’s 44 points in the second game. The MR Titans fall to (1-3) in league play and will play at 4:10 and 5:00 this Friday in week three.

A team of United High School players, called the Monmouth Blue Aces, improved to (3-1) in the league after splitting a pair of games on Friday. The Blue Aces lost their first game in a heart-breaking fashion, a 46-44 overtime loss to Hometown Elite. Cormaic Flynn led Monmouth with 13 points in that one. Also in double figures were Jackson Bergren with 12 and Declan Flynn with 10. The Blue Aces bounced back in game two, coming back from a halftime deficit to beat the Geese 48-45. The Flynn boys, Declan and Cormaic again led the way in scoring in the win, with 17 and 16 points, respectively. The Blue Aces play a pair of late games on Friday, taking the floor at 9:10 and 10:00.

On the girl’s side, a team of Monmouth-Roseville (Titans Elite) players lost to pair of teams made up of Western Big Six Conference players. Monmouth-Roseville lost to Quincy 35-18 and Moline 38-33. Keisha Wilson led Monmouth-Roseville in scoring against Quincy with five points, while Kelci Shelton had 10 in the loss to Moline. Laney Rexroat had eight and Ryley Huston had seven in the second game, as well. The Titans Elite are now (1-3) overall and play two more games on Friday at 4:10 and 5:50.

Other local teams playing in the United Hoops League are the Knoxville boy (3-1), a team of Wethersfield Flying Geese boys (0-4), Ridgewood (3-1) and Sherrard (2-2).
