Low Risk and Medium Risk Sports in Better Position to Have IHSA Seasons

As Illinois inches closer to return to play, some high school sports appear to be in better shape to have seasons this school year. Low risk sports like baseball, softball and track and medium risk sports like volleyball and soccer should be okay, but questions remain for high-risk sports like football, basketball and wrestling. Jeff Parsons is boys basketball coach at Wethersfield High School and also works with the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. He says those high-risk sports will need a lower definition or the Governor and IDPH will have to be receptive to moving Illinois to Phase 5 in mitigations now that the COVID vaccine is out.

The IHSA Board of Directors meets next Wednesday to map out a plan for the rest of the school year.
