On January 1, 2021 the Galesburg Police Department responded to Grand Liquor located at 1280 Grand Ave. in reference to a robbery that had just occurred.
Officers were advised that the store employee was chasing the suspect. Officers with the assistance of the Knox County Sheriff’s office were able to locate the store employee and the suspect in area. The suspect was found to be Michael J Shelton, age 19.
During the investigation, store employees advised that Michael Shelton had come into the store and threatened them with a power drill. Employees advised that he threatened them with the drill and demanded them to give him all the money in the store. Shelton later tried to flee and was chased by employees.
Based on the investigation, Michael Shelton was arrested for aggravated robbery. He was taken to the Knox County Jail and held pending a court appearance.
