Preliminary Hearing Held for Filed Objection by Ward 1 Alderman Candidate

Share

Last night the Electoral Board for the City of Monmouth held a preliminary hearing of the election petition objection filed by Ward 1 Alderman candidate Court Hopkins against incumbent Justin Thomas. The objection was in reference to errors in the filed nominating paperwork. Both candidates presented their testimonies. Before the board deliberates and states a decision in writing, the Electoral Board then went into recess granting both Hopkins and Thomas 24 hours to present any case law or electoral board decisions to support their positions. Meanwhile, a public hearing has been tentatively set in the objection filed by Mayor Rod Davies and former Warren County State’s Attorney Albert “Chip” Algren on the candidacy of mayoral challenger Justin Lipes in that he is not a resident of the City of Monmouth for Monday, January 18th at 3pm.
