On Sunday, February 14 at about 12:45 am, the Galesburg Police Department and Galesburg Fire Department responded to 261 Pine Street in reference to a house on fire.  Upon arrival, a male subject identified as Boyd Black, age 50 was found in front of the residence.  Boyd Black was suffering from burn injuries from being in the house.  Black was helped away from the house and provided medical treatment.  Black was transported to the hospital and then sent to a burn unit.
The Galesburg Fire Department started to fight the fire.  Adjacent houses were evacuated due to the house being fully engulfed.  Information obtained from Boyd Black was that Katrina Hainline was still in the residence.

Upon getting the fire under control, the Galesburg Fire Department located Katrina Hainline, age 60, deceased inside the home.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the fire had been intentionally set.  A joint investigation conducted by the Galesburg Police Department and the Galesburg Fire Department, and the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office, has led to the arrest of Donald A Denniston, age 38. Donald Denniston has been charged with aggravated arson, and first degree murder.  Denniston is scheduled for his first court appearance on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
