local business owner Justin Lipes is seeking the opportunity to be elected as the Mayor of Monmouth in the April 6th election. Lipes is a local business owner and explains why he is inspired to run for office:
“Well, you know, I have always had an interest in politics. When Dwayne Brooks ran I helped out a lot with Dwayne’s campaign. So that is what kind of inspired me. I thought it would really be something if I could pick up where he left off and continue the fight and get in there and make stuff happen, so here I am. Probably the biggest things I have gotten from people has been the water. The water situation, the roads, and also the distribution of the water as far as the water mains and that. They kind of go hand in hand. You put down a new road and then if you have to dig it up three weeks later for a water main break, then you are kind of back at square one. So I think people have kind of seen that over and over again around town. You know it is concerning. Over the years I have had a lot of people say that all they want is to have good roads and be able to drive to work without dodging 50 potholes or hitting 50 potholes for that matter. Those are probably the most important.”
