Donna M. Hinton, 74, of Kirkwood, IL passed away at 7:01 pm, Thursday, February 11, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL

Donna was born December 12, 1946 in Avon, IL the daughter of Marshall W. and Geraldine J. “Gerry” (Thurman) Emory.  She was raised and educated in rural Prairie City, graduating from Bushnell-Prairie City High School in 1964. She received her B.S. in 1968 and later her M.S., both from Western Illinois University.

Donna married H. Luchien Hinton on August 3, 1968 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood, IL and he survives.

Donna taught Business, Accounting and Typing at Yorkwood Jr-Sr. High School for 29 years before retiring in 2004.

She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Kirkwood, IL.  She was a great cook and enjoyed applique’ sewing. She liked to travel, visiting 49 of the 50 States and going on vacations with friends and family.  Her true joy was being around and caring for her family.  She also enjoyed attending the many events of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Luchien Hinton of Kirkwood, IL; her 5 sons, Bert (Becky) Hinton of Rock Island, IL, Matthew (Jenny) Hinton of Alpha, IL, Chad (Leanne) Hinton of Monmouth, IL, Ryan Hinton of Plainfield, IN, and Josh (Anna) Hinton of Monmouth, IL; 13 grandchildren, Sydney, Maggie, Blythe, Madison, Mitchell, Courtney, Abby, Tanner, Bradley, Riley, Wesley, Elly and Luke; 1 great grandson, Matthew Sherman; and her sister, Joyce (Kenny) Roskamp of Hamilton, IL; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Jackson Hinton, and her brother Michael Emory.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association and sent to the funeral home.  The family would like to thank the Kirkwood Fire Department for their assistance. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
