Keith E. Dew, 89, of Aledo, Illinois passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at Genesis Hospital in Aledo.  Cremation rites have been accorded with Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo, IL. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be left to Alexis United Presbyterian Church or the Aledo Trinity Presbyterian Church.  Online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.

Keith was born June 7, 1931 in Monmouth, Illinois, to Erskine and Belle Spangler Dew.  He was an accomplished football player at Alexis High School, where he graduated in 1949 and played at Western Illinois University.  Keith married Dorothy Anderson June 28, 1952 at the Zion Lutheran Church in North Henderson, IL.

As a Sargent in the Illinois National Guard, he saw combat in the Korean War with an artillery unit.  He was a member of the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 in Aledo.

He was a life-long farmer in the Ohio Grove Township area and enjoyed raising livestock.  Keith was devoted to his family and loved following his children’s and grandchildren’s various activities and lives.  He was proud of them all.  Keith also considered all his neighbors extended family. 

Keith was a lifelong and active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Alexis and more recently attended the Aledo Trinity Presbyterian Church.  He and his family were very appreciative for the ministry of Pastor Daren Dietmeier and Larry McAuley at the Aledo Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Keith is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Dew of Aledo, IL; children, John (Sharon) Dew of Kirkwood, IL, Lisa (Donald) McCoy of Abingdon, IL, Ryan (Stacey) Dew of Alexis, IL, Randy (Nancy) Dew of Muscatine, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by them all.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.
