The Monmouth-Roseville Titan girls basketball team hosted the Knoxville Blue Bullets at Monmouth-Roseville High School. The teams split their two meetings last year, with Monmouth-Roseville getting their first win over Knoxville since the Monmouth and Roseville school districts consolidated in 2005. After last night’s final horn, the Titans have now won two of the last three. Monmouth-Roseville comes back from 12 points down early in the 3rd quarter to get a 50-44 victory. The Titans led 18-14 midway through the second period before Knoxville would end the quarter on a 13-0 run to lead by nine at the half. Kynlee Stearns, the lone returning starter off a 28-5 team last year, had sixteen points in the first two quarters, many coming in the big run to end the half. Monmouth-Roseville would make a defensive adjustment and held Stearns to just three points in the second half. The Titans were down 39-35 entering the final period but outscore the Blue Bullets 15-5 in the last eight minutes to get the six point win. Ryley Huston, who missed nearly all of her team’s loss to the A-Town Tornadoes last Thursday, led the (2-1) Titans with 14 points. Huston’s younger sister Carmyn was also in double figures with ten, as was Belle Thompson with ten points as well. Stearns was the only Blue Bullet in double figures with 19, as Knoxville falls to (4-2).
