Mon-Rose AD Jeremy Adolphson Says Titan Boys and Girls BB Off To Great Starts

The Monmouth-Roseville boys and girls basketball teams have gotten off to great starts in this season’s modified schedule.

After getting their season off to a 2-week late start due to a Covid-19 issue on the varsity squad, the Titan boys have won their first two games. Monmouth-Roseville knocked off West Hancock 70-42 in their season opener last Thursday and then went on the road to beat Camp Point Central 56-50 on Saturday. Quincy Talivaa led the Titans with 23 points in the win over West Hancock. Talivaa left the game in the 4th quarter due to a wrist injury. The senior learned on Friday afternoon that the wrist was fractured and he will miss the rest of his team’s season. Jack Thompson, who scored 12 points in the season opener, picked up the scoring slack in the win on Saturday. Thompson poured in 27 points, with eleven of those coming in the first quarter.

The Monmouth-Roseville girls varsity basketball team is (3-1) after blowing out Camp Point Central/Southeastern 59-30 on Saturday. Earlier in the week, the Titans garnered a 50-44 over long-time nemesis, Knoxville. The Lady Titans could possibly be undefeated on the season, were it not for losing senior Ryley Huston early in their lone loss of the season, a 51-49 setback to (7-0) Abingdon-Avon two weeks ago. Huston came back strong in her team’s win over Knoxville with 14 points and seven rebounds. She is averaging over 16 points and nearly ten rebounds a game in the three full games that she has been able to play.

Monmouth-Roseville High School AD Jeremy Adolphson talked about both teams great starts on his usual Monday morning WRAM Morning Show spot at 7:15.
