Monmouth-Roseville Girls Basketball Coach Scott Weber Had Doubts But Happy Basketball is Back

Two weeks ago it seemed like high school basketball was headed towards being canceled altogether. Within just a few days, basketball was back on school’s schedules and it was all-systems-go. Once a few of the Covid Mitigations regions around the state of Illinois moved into Phase Four, the dominoes fell for other regions to progress forward to the next positive step. Just when it seemed like it was the bleakest days for coach, players, parents and fans, light was seen at the end of the dark tunnel.

Monmouth-Roseville girls basketball coach was doubtful his girls would get the chance to play this season but was delighted when he was told his team could start playing for real again.

Weber’s Monmouth-Roseville Lady Titans will take the floor for the first time in almost an entire year on Monday night as they host their rivals, the Macomb Bombers, at Monmouth-Roseville High School. The Titans are coming off a year that ended with a regional championship loss to eventual Super-Sectional qualifier Quincy Notre Dame.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan boys program were scheduled to open their season next Tuesday at home against Payson-Seymour but a player on the varsity and freshman squads recently tested positive for the coronavirus. The Titan boys had to cancel their first three games of the season and will now begin the modified season on February 16th at home against West Hancock.
