To help fight food insecurity for seniors, the Volunteer Network on Aging along with Yemm Automotive have partnered up during the month of February to raise funds during the second annual ‘Put Your Heart Into It Event’ for their Meals on Wheels program. For every client served at the GM and Chrysler Service Departments in February, Yemm Automotive will make a donation toward meals for a local senior. Executive Director of the Volunteer Network on Aging, Ellen Larsen, shares other ways of donating to the cause:

“We have four tiers of giving, if people would like to give. Those are broken down by the amount and time period that donation would cover. We have our first donation level, which is Little Crush, and that would serve up to one month of meals for seniors which is $125. We have our next level, which is Gettin’ Serious, which is $400 and that provides up to four months of meals. The next tier, Wedding Bells, which is $750 and provides six months of meals and then our top tier of giving for our Valentine’s fundraiser is Soul Mates, which is $1500, and that provides up to one year of meals for a senior.”

Currently 230 seniors receive meals through the program.
