WAVERLY, Iowa – The Prairie Fire track and field teams finished up competition at the Division III Elite Indoor Championships hosted by Wartburg on Saturday. The two day event was invite only and Wartburg invited the top-16 in each event as verified by TFRRS.org

Kendall Ballman broke the school record in the men’s long jump with his first jump of the day (6.90m) and then leaped 7.03m on his final jump to secure first place in the event and stand atop the podium.

Kristin Herndon (1.49m) was only 1cm off her PR in the women’s high jump.

“I was happy for our team to get a second opportunity to compete and we came out and made the best of it,” said head coach Evander Wells. “I’m proud of the effort the team has put in this season.”

The track and field teams will have a few weeks off before beginning the outdoor season on April 10 at Monmouth.
