Be Prepared in the Event of Severe Weather

Share

March is severe weather preparedness month. University of Illinois Extension Educator Carrie McKillip encourages everyone to be prepared in the event of any severe weather:

“We have had a great number of strong wind events in this area over the past few years and it seems as if a lot of those severe weather events are becoming more frequent. March is a time we typically try and remind everybody to get themselves and their families prepared. Also, if you work away from home it is a good idea to have an emergency kit at your office or place of employment. It is just a really good idea to think about now. Here in another week or so we will be springing forward, so rechecking those emergency supplies that we might have.”

Last year 63 tornadoes were reported in Illinois resulting in two injuries and more than $2 million in property damage.
