With the arrival of the election season, the Galesburg Police Department has received reports of election signs being taken. While some may see that as a prank, it is not. Taking election signs is theft, and is a crime. The penalty for theft is a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,500.00 fine.
“The use of election signs is part of our election process, please respect your neighbors and leave their election signs alone,” said Police Chief Idle. “Anyone caught stealing election signs will be arrested.”
