There’s been plenty of discussion about the mental well-being of students during remote-learning around the state of Illinois. And maybe even more discussion concerning of the mental aspect of student-athletes not being able to play the sports they love. Monmouth-Roseville High School returned to five-day, in-person learning on Monday. With the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Music Contest on Saturday, Monmouth-Roseville Band Director Kyle Barshinger says his students will be very happy to get back into the band room to prepare for the contest. He also says just being back in school will also help with their mental well-being.
The Monmouth-Roseville High School band was a part of the overall Music Class B State Championship winners from last spring.
