Stanley G. Montgomery, 65, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 11:25 a.m., Monday, March 22, 2021 at his home. 

He was born on July 27, 1955 in Lima, OH, the son of Barton L. and Hazel E. (Gillen) Montgomery.  Stan graduated from Galesburg High School in 1973.  He served in the United States Army from 1974-1978. 

Stanley married Linda Murphy August 15, 2009 in Monmouth, IL; she survives. 

Stan worked Gale’s in Galesburg for several years, he later work at Mach 1 Boats and MCR, both in Monmouth.  He enjoyed target shooting and watching the History Channel.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. 

Surviving Stan is his wife, Linda Montgomery of Monmouth, IL; his children, Tina (Howard) White of Monmouth, IL Michelle Sage of Monmouth, IL, Darrell Sage, Jr. of Monmouth, IL, Brian Sage of Monmouth, IL; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim (Sue) Montgomery of Nebraska, Bart (Cynda) Montgomery of Bushnell, IL; one sister, Kathy Montgomery of Roseville, IL; and one nephew, Zachary Montgomery of Knoxville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, Christopher Sage. 

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
