State Individual Income Tax Deadline Extended to May 17th

Share

Illinois taxpayers are getting a little more time to file their income taxes. The state is giving people until May 17th now to finish up their taxes says Illinois Department of Revenue Spokeperson Terry Horstman.

“This aligns with the Internal Revenue Service’s date they released. The tax filing extension does not apply to estimated tax payments, however, those are still due on April 15th, 2021.”

Horstman says 2.4 million Illinoisans have already filed their taxes, with 79 percent expecting a refund. You can file your IL 1040 for free online at: my tax dot illinois dot gov.
