Valerie J. McManus,73, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 7:20 am, Monday, March 1, 2021 at her home. 

Valerie was born June 30, 1947 in Elmhurst, IL, the daughter of Harold and Shirley (Nelson) Domianus.  She was raised and educated in Merrillville, IN.  She graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in special education in 1969.   

Valerie married Patrick L. McManus III in Monmouth, IL on April 3, 1971 and he passed away on September 29, 2008. 

Valerie taught special education at Warren Achievement & Central Jr. High School in Monmouth for over 35 years.  She enjoyed going to her Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Rho, PEO, and Warren County Retired Teachers Meetings.  Valerie loved getting together with her “Card Club” group. 

Survivors include her son, Patrick (Karen) McManus IV of Erie, PA; her daughter, Amanda (Francisco) Maez of Monmouth, IL; four grandchildren, Hannah McManus and Joshua McManus both of Erie, PA, Isabel Maez and Luciana Maez both of Monmouth, IL; her sister, Marcia Rzepcznski of Valpraso, IN; her beloved dog, Lulabelle; lifelong friends, Suzanne Lovdahl and the Jim & Kathy Lewis family; several nieces and nephews.   

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. 

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Cremation has been accorded.  Memorials may be given to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD).  Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, all attendees are required to wear a mask and social distance.
