City of Galesburg Transit Offering Free Rides on Earth Day

City of Galesburg Transit is offering free rides on Thursday, April 22, 2021, in recognition of Earth Day. All rides on City of Galesburg fixed route and paratransit vehicles will be free all day.

“The City of Galesburg Transit knows the benefits that public transit has on individuals, families, communities, and businesses,” said Pamelyn Usher-Miller, Transit Manager. “We hope members of the community will consider trying public transportation for Earth Day.”

According to the American Public Transportation Association website, public transportation saves the United States 4.2 billion gallons of gasoline a year. Public Transportation also enhances personal opportunities. According to American Public Transportation Association, 87% of trips on public transit have a direct impact on the local economy, 71% of riders are employed, and 7% are students.
