Gerald E. “Jerry” Marlow, 78, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 10:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Aledo Health Care Center, Aledo, IL. 

Jerry was born on February 21, 1943 in Amherst, OH, the son of Bert and Beatrice E. (Reynolds) Marlow. He was raised and educated in Amherst, OH, graduating from Marion L. Steele High School.  He later attended Mt. Vernon Bible College in Mt. Vernon, OH, and Life Bible College in Los Angeles, CA and obtained his Pastoral license.    

He married Sarah Joan Adwell at the Foursquare Gospel Church, Monmouth, IL, on June 21, 1964, they have been married for 57 years and she survives. 

Jerry worked at Rocketdyne in Canoga Park, CA. He helped build the engine to the Apollo 11 space shuttle that went to the moon. He received several recognitions and awards for designing tools that were needed to build the engine. He also worked for Wells Pet Food for 37 years and WMOI/WRAM on Fridays and Saturdays for several years. He has been a minister of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel for 57 years pastoring in Delaware, OH and later in Monmouth, IL where he served as an assistant pastor and senior pastor. Jerry and his wife were in charge of the Community Thanksgiving Dinner for 20 years and they also assisted with the Foursquare Church tent at the Prime Beef Festival for many years.  With welcome arms he accepted everyone and shared the love of Jesus. He enjoyed music and singing as well as spending time with his family. His family was important to him and he wanted to make sure each member knew they were loved. 

Surviving Jerry are his wife, Sarah Joan Marlow of Monmouth, IL, his children; Deborah  Marlow of Monmouth, IL, Dawn (Steve) Washburn of Monmouth, IL, Davina (Dewey) Gillette of Goodfield, IL; his grandchildren, Andrea (Joe) Fitch, Dereck (Joyce) Smith, Jeneva (Dustin) Smith, Ashley Reyburn, Joe Sinclair, Jacob Gillette, Josh Gillette, Matt Sinclair, Haydin Gillette, Aleesia Gillette; his great-grandchildren, Aliviah, Colton, Clayton, Aiden, Declan, Waylen, Raelynn, Bryar, Elias, Sophia; his sisters, Willa Maresh of Huntington Beach, CA, Judy Contento of Glendale, CA and Betty Thompson of Little York, IL; brothers, Robert (Carol) Parrish and Jack (Becky) Adwell. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William Marlowe and Robert Marlowe. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Funeral Home.  Cremation will take place following the services.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Camp Hickory in Ingleside, IL.
