The Illinois State Police (ISP), Division of Internal Investigation (DII) conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of Timothy Nichols, a Sergeant with the Illinois Army National Guard (ILANG), located in Galesburg, IL. Nichols, 32 years old, of Dahinda, IL, has been charged with two counts of Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse.
On January 8, 2020, the ISP, DII was notified by the ILANG of an allegation of Criminal Sexual Abuse against Nichols.
On March 31, 2021, after a thorough investigation by the ISP DII investigators, the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office approved two counts of Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 1 Felony) and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony). Nichols was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Knox County Jail. Nichols posted a $10,000 bond and was released from custody. No further information is available for release by the ISP.
