Jamieson Community Center Expecting an Increase in the Need for Food This Summer

Share

Use of the food pantry typically fluctuates throughout the year based on the months of January and February as the lowest usage months due to tax refunds. Nancy Mowen, Director of the Jamieson Community Center, explains that summer months are when they see the highest use:

“When the kids are home we provide them summer meals. We had also had a record of 9,000 meals served last summer but they have more mouths to feed at home and the summer months are typically our highest usage in our food pantry.”

Summer meals for local students will be available at grab and go sites in the community starting on June 7th. The Jamieson Community Center Food Pantry is also open from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
