Monmouth Public Works Director Jackson Says Inventory of all Service Lines in the City to be Reported by 2023

The City of Monmouth Public Works Department has completed annual reports required for the IEPA, including yearly landscape waste, combined sewer overflow, and an updated water system inventory report. As part of the revised lead and copper ruling that came out of Flint, Michigan, all municipalities are required to report their service line inventory. Public Works Director Andy Jackson reports they will look to go door to door to identify the water lines in all residences:

“We will probably have to put together a little bit more door to door type of procedure here within the next couple of years to get all those done. We have been doing them as we come across them; you know if we change a meter out or a local plumber is in doing some work, we ask them to identify anybody that is in a house. Working with the local plumbers and then with my staff to identify as many of those as we can without bothering the resident without going in their home.”

Service line inventory is to be completed by January of 2023.
